The Board identified the following as key priorities for the Association in 2016:
1. Open New Solar Markets Across Canada
CanSIA has made strong investments in opening new markets for both the solar PV and solar thermal sectors and will continue to do so. Through our policy and regulatory advocacy efforts in Alberta and Saskatchewan, new solar energy programs are expected to be launched in 2016 and 2017. Also, with a new Government in Ottawa, CanSIA recently ramped up its Federal advocacy efforts with the aim to open markets across Canada.
2. Increase Membership Value and Engagement
CanSIA will continue to strengthen the organization through active member engagement, strategic partnerships and operational efficiencies, to ensure members get superior value for their investment of time and money. For example, with the introduction of both Strategic Projects and Member Networks & Forums, members now have more opportunities than ever to stay informed and to participate meaningfully in CanSIA’s activities.
3. Secure and Grow the Ontario Solar Market
Ontario continues to be the leading solar market in Canada; however, with the expected end of the FIT program in sight, it is pivotal that CanSIA secures and grows the Ontario solar market by alternative means. With this in mind, CanSIA will continue to strongly advocate for progressive net-metering policies and establish Climate Change policy opportunities for both the solar PV and solar thermal sectors of the industry.
