Policy Development, Regulatory Affairs and Advocacy
CanSIA works on policy matters that influence the solar market today and in the future. Our Policy and Research Team work closely with our members and a number of government representatives at all levels to break down barriers and open up opportunities for all sectors of the solar industry.
CanSIA’s Member Networks help our members target the resources they need to stay informed on the issues of key interest to them. Under each Network, together members can participate in Forums to work through important industry issues. Three Networks offer our members a community and platform for the exchange of information, ideas, and strategies:
CanSIA also implements Strategic Projects each year along with members who want to play an active role in shaping the business environment for solar in Canada. These forward-thinking projects are funded and driven by CanSIA members and tackle longer term objectives toward developing a robust Canadian solar industry for years to come.

Industry Knowledge Sharing
The sharing of experience, information and ideas can be used to improve research, raise awareness, and overcome barriers, thus ensuring the solar energy industry experiences long-term stability and growth. CanSIA implements a broad range of communications activities on solar energy, works with the industry to offer a valuable and enlightening program at each conference, and provides a news and information service to our members to ensure the industry is kept well-informed. CanSIA also collaborates with other organizations and government departments to bring new market information to light.
Profile Building and Networking
CanSIA enables our members to grow their professional network, develop business opportunities and build their personal and corporate brand through opportunities and services which include:
- Facilitated introductions and connections;
- Marketing and advertising; and,
- Trade show exhibiting and conference sponsorship.
