The ambition, energy and creativity of the Canada’s young solar professionals ensures our industry continues to move upward. ELSE’s Emerging Solar Leader award celebrates those new to our industry whom have contributed significantly to solar in 2017 and show promise to continue on as future leaders.
WiRE Women of Distinction Award*
WiRE Women of Distinction Awards recognize and celebrate professional women working in the energy sector who go above and beyond business-as-usual, consistently demonstrate outstanding leadership, and have contributed significantly to the expansion and improvement of the power sector.

Indigenous Solar Project of the Year
Indigenous solar projects serve as natural showcases for solar energy, benefiting both the local populace and the wider environment. This award will recognize the commitment and excellence by remote community and Indigenous groups that choose to make a difference with solar.
Solar Service Excellence
Recognizes service excellence in the delivery of support services to the solar sector from any of the engineering, construction, legal, accounting, banking and financial service industries, with an emphasis on the biggest or most creative financing deals, ethical practice and/or health and safety excellence.
Solar Thermal Project of the Year
Awarded to the Institutional, Commercial or Industrial (ICI) solar thermal project that, either through high visibility, meaningful stakeholder engagement or innovative features has helped the solar thermal industry become mainstream.
Solar PV Project of the Year
Awarded to the Institutional, Commercial or Industrial (ICI) or community solar PV project that, either through high visibility, meaningful stakeholder engagement or innovative features, has helped the solar PV industry become mainstream.
Solar Developer of the Year
Recognizes excellence in the responsible development of projects through such practices as meaningful stakeholder engagement, strong project management, predicted output and project returns.
Solar Technology Innovation and Integration Award
Solar energy technology continues to evolve and is playing an increasingly pivotal role in comprehensive approaches to integrated energy solutions and energy management. This award will recognize leading efforts to integrate innovative solar solutions into a holistic energy management environment.
Solar Distributor of the Year
Distribution is the lifeblood of getting solar and related products from manufacturers to the installers and ultimately to the end customer. This award will recognize the distributor that best exemplifies quality dealer services and leading edge product offerings.
Solar Finance Leadership Award
The declining cost of solar installations, globally, is being driven in large part by the availability of low-cost financing solutions. This award will recognize creativity and innovation in Canadian solar energy project or portfolio financing.
