CanSIA FIT Review Working Group Meetings with Ministry of Energy
CanSIA continues to provide exceptional value and access to key stakeholders, particularly the Ministry of Energy, during the FIT Program review process.
On October 31st the Ontario Ministry of Energy officially launched the much anticipated FIT Program Review. The Ministry has had preliminary discussions with CanSIA and has indicated its interest in receiving input on a variety of topics, including tariff amounts, manufacturing retention and growth, new technologies, local input, and the Renewable Energy Approvals process. The Ministry is soliciting input from interested stakeholders through to December 14th.
The Ministry of Energy has reached out directly to CanSIA, as the trusted and credible voice of the solar industry, in order to ensure that the solar industry is best heard and its views represented and considered during this Review, and that the topics addressed include the full range of concerns and opportunities identified by the industry. Clearly it will be difficult for the Ministry to hear from every company during the FIT Review period, however, they are making every effort to hear as many voices as possible. They wish to take advantage of CanSIA’s leadership in the industry and the strength that comes with representing approximately 500 members in the province.
Through CanSIA’s FIT Review Working Groups, the Association is working constructively and collaboratively with the provincial government to bring them the many voices of our membership. Meetings are being scheduled with each of CanSIA’s FIT Review Working Groups (i.e. Micro-Scale, Small PV, Large PV, and Solar Thermal) to discuss preliminary recommendations important to members. These meetings are currently being arranged and details will be provided to each working group as they are made available.
CanSIA and the Ministry of Energy hope this collaborative approach will assure all solar companies that their messages are being received through the Association’s highly engaged Working Groups should the Ministry not get the opportunity to meet face to face meetings with all companies.
Let your voice by heard and take advantage of CanSIA’s status as the trusted and credible voice of the solar industry! If you wish to join one of CanSIA’s FIT Review Working Groups and to be a part of this collaborative approach please contact Emily Wood at ewood@cansia.ca.
