A&T ENERGY is a company based in Kapuskasing, Ontario that develops and maintains effective partnerships with Northeastern Ontario Communities and Private Industry in order to develop and sustain a regional competitive investment climate, market Northeastern Ontario as the location of choice for Canadian and international businesses whereby attracting and retaining domestic and foreign direct investment. By building a stronger and more competitive regional capacity to compete in the global economy, A&T ENERGY will increase commercialization opportunities and business share in foreign markets. As a demonstration project, A&T ENERGY will build, own and operate a 8 megawatt (MW) solar electric generating facility in the neighbouring Municipality of Val Rita-Harty. The power generated by this facility will feed the Ontario grid with 100% renewable energy and showcase the made-in-Northern-Ontario renewable energy generation business. A&T ENERGY's vision is to harness the broader goals of the Province, particularly Northeastern Ontario. A&T ENERGY is about locally owned power generation serving a Provincial mandate. The importance of community owned power generation is more than simply meeting need for power to drive local industry, it is about maximizing the local impacts of economic development. A&T ENERGY was founded by a group of local builders, recognizing community-based business and how this can contribute to the growth and prosperity of their respective communities. As Northerners, they understand that to retain and attract business they must build infrastructure to further develop the North. A&T ENERGY is 100% Ontarian-owned by rate-payers of the Municipality of Val Rita-Harty and its partners have a successful track record of investment in and operation of private businesses. A&T ENERGY relies on over 80 years of experience in the construction sector for commercial, institutional and industrial development, project management and energy project development. Roger Lachance, Claude Baril and Johanne Baril (President of A&T ENERGY) have overseen numerous developments in the Kapuskasing region, including their current work (Lachance Construction) in construction management for the development of four (4) hydro-electric projects for a major hydro electric power generation company. As an active member of the Ontario Sustainable Energy Association, Johanne Baril sits on its Policy Committee as the Representative for Ontario's Near North. She has chosen to serve OSEA after recognizing the potential to move Northern Ontario towards sustainable and restorative societies and economies. OSEA's mission is to serve the Community Power sector through advocacy, public outreach and capacity building. A&T ENERGY has highly experienced research and management assets that brings together senior professionals in a range of disciplines for specific assignments which require high value added input to questions of construction, financial planning and economic analysis, policy development, organization and management, engineering, operational efficiency, strategic and market analysis.
