About this opportunity
We are expanding our Diversified Markets engineering organization and are seeking a global Program Manager to provide program leadership primarily for our Renewable Energy engineering division. Celestica has an established PV module presence and we are looking to expand our offering by adding module level power conversion electronics.

Job Overview:
The Global Program Manager represents the company’s interests during the launch of new programs and product platforms, ensuring successful delivery of the program from design concept through to product introduction.


Role and Responsibilities:

  • Tasks span cross-functional projects where a high degree of judgment and independence are required in proposing solutions and resolving problems
  • Influences others cross-functionally to ensure segment goals are met, and resolves ambiguity in an effective manner. Acts independently to determine new methods and procedures.
  • Builds customer and cross-functional relationships where negotiation and tactfullness are required to gain support. Interfaces with senior managers on issues related to the area of expertise.
  • Maintains positive relationships with key customers, suppliers, etc., who have a significant impact on the success of the organization.
  • Candidate will represent company interests and by supporting the customer to ensure the launch of new products are performed in a timely and world class manner and any issues associated with current projects are identified and addressed by the company’s internal team.
  • Responsible for interfaces/interactions between defined pieces of a total project. Reviews contribution of others for validity of approach, completeness.
  • Manages project and program financials. Includes setting baselines, tracking to budget, unit cost management.
  • Interacts at functional management level (internal and external) regarding project status. Responsible for keeping organization current with industry and technology developments and trends that may enhance Celestica’s ability to meet and/or exceed customer’s expectations and requirements.
  • Knowledge of design process with a preference for having experience in design.
  • Knowledge and experience with a phased design approach.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and equipment used for systems, printed circuit boards and subassemblies.
  • Knowledge of materials, Supply Chain and components used in the manufacturing of electro mechanical systems, printed circuit boards and subassemblies. Some level of fluency in financial costing / pricing required as well as an in-depth knowledge of contracts and associated quoting processes
  • Excellent customer contact, negotiation and problem resolution skills.
  • Ability to simultaneously manage several projects and coordinate multiple, changing deadlines.
  • Ability to effectively organize, manage and motivate team members from a wide variety of departments and geographies with a diverse group of skill sets.

  • Excellent program management, presentation, organizational and computer skills including ability to use MS Project, Excel,
  • Powerpoint and Microsoft Word .

  • Ability to effectively communicate with a wide variety of internal and external customers, some of which will be located in other geographies/time zones (and will require some evening calls)
  • Ability to effectively organize, manage and motivate team members from a wide variety of departments and geographies with a diverse group of skill sets.
  • Willingness to travel (up to 25%)
