Electrician

The position reports to the Construction Manager.  The core responsibility of this position is to play a key role in the on-site management, installation and coordination of on-site electrical work on new and retrofit installations for commercial residential and industrial applications in the Renewable Sector with a focus on Solar PV.

• Read electrical plans, drawings and specifications and provide input during the tendering process.
• Attend site visits as required with professionals and project managers as part of the acceptance of work process for various upgrade and development projects.
• Ensure installation plans and integrated diagrams are up to date.
• Prepare materials and perform required electrical assembly.
• Locate, drill or have drilled objects and surfaces in preparation for subsequent work.
• Check, install, maintain, repair and adjust existing electrical system for solar PV integration.
• Carry out or oversee module installation, wiring between module and arrays and wiring in voltage convertors/inverters, additional breakers, meters and performance monitoring equipment
• Ensure general and preventive maintenance of various electrical systems that may be present.
• Assess problems and make changes to existing electrical systems in order to improve performance.
• Verify operating conditions for various devices; conduct electrical tests ensuring all is completed according to Code.
• Complete activity reports and prepare cost estimates for applicable personnel.
• Keep a specific inventory of electrical equipment.
• Cooperate with other specialized workers and help them carry out their duties as required.
• As requested by Construction Manager or Project Manager, initiate, coordinate and verify work performed by electrical subcontractors and ensure it complies with industry practices and SITQ standards.
• Report any anomalies or defects encountered to Construction Manager and take the appropriate steps to correct them.
• Regularly update knowledge and skills and suggest new or improved techniques to enhance the efficiency of electrical systems.
