Emerging Leaders for Solar Energy (ELSE) Program
Emerging Leaders for Solar Energy (ELSE) is a program for young professionals and students founded by the Canadian Solar Industries Association (CanSIA) to engage young Canadians and industry in shaping a brighter energy future for Canada.
ELSE fosters the next generation of clean energy leaders through events, media, and projects with thought-provoking insight into solar energy’s role in a sustainable future. Every year ELSE mobilizes more and more youth young professionals in increasing numbers in communities across Canada to raise awareness of the wide variety of possibilities and benefits offered by solar energy to society at large. ELSE also helps to accelerate its members’ careers by providing useful skill and knowledge, as well as professional connections with industry & government.

ELSE Committees
Programs
- The Solar Ambassador Program (SAP) aims to empower university and college students to engage their campus with the latest industry facts, technology, policy, and career opportunities.
- The Mentorship Program is Canada’s first in the solar industry! Targeting students, the program matches young professionals with two experienced industry professionals for in-person mentorship sessions.
Projects
- ELSE’s solar development projects serve to raise the profile of solar within Canada or increase Canadian involvement in projects providing critical electrical services to impoverished communities across the world.
Events
- Professional development events are hosted throughout the year, including hands-on workshops, power plant and manufacturing facility tours, speaker panels, and networking events.

ELSE was founded in 2012 by the Canadian Solar Industries Association (CanSIA) by working with 50 emerging leaders during two days of Youth Advisory Panel roundtable sessions at Solar Canada 2012, sponsored by AMP Solar Group Inc., a founding sponsor of the ELSE Program.
